According to the World Health Organization (WHO), telemedicine is a component of medicine that allows healthcare professionals using information and communication technologies (ICTs) to provide healthcare services to digitally remote or isolated patients for diagnostic, treatment, prevention, research, education, and continuing education consultations. The digitization of the healthcare field and medical care is inevitable, and telemedicine represents a real revolution by using ICTs to improve access and quality of care for the greatest number of people, whether patients or professionals in the medical sector: healthcare providers, hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and pharmacies. With this in mind, SOTEK Group has developed DOKOTOLO, a telemedicine service to meet the need for local healthcare. The services offered include online clinical consultations via messaging and video. DOKOTOLO was created to connect patients to all healthcare professionals. Thus, patients can receive remote medical consultations wherever they are and at any time.The various health crises of recent years, have considerably accelerated the digitization process by encouraging patients to consult remotely to avoid going to care centers and to prevent contamination. In this perspective, the DOKOTOLO telemedicine platform was created. Developed in Congo and adapted to the Congolese context by SOTEK GROUP, a company specializing in the digitization of the healthcare sector. Presented to more than 100 doctors and other healthcare professionals in Congo before its launch to collect their needs, remarks, recommendations, and ideas. Submitted to the Congolese National Commission for the protection of personal data for notification and authorization.
